 using efficient conversion technologies and electricity or hydrogen as energy carrier.

Some examples of what to come:

Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles (PHEV) Will be charged from the grid, using larger batteries than in todays hybrids. Later on a fuel cell will substitute the combustion engine. More information.
